Raw material, trade, and craft
Before man-made objects became objects – and later exhibits in the Faesch Museum – raw materials had to be excavated, traded, processed, and sometimes combined with each other. The origin of these objects was as diverse as their material composition. The museum contained materials from near and far: Wax, leather, woods, metals, silk, etc. These materials were worked upon: sanded, melted, beaten, painted, cooled, split, engraved, and embossed. By the time the objects found their way into Remigius Faesch's cabinet in their completed form, they (and their components) had travelled different, at times long distances and had passed through numerous hands.
